Identify significant events that occurred throughout World War II. Describe how the maps you found changed through that time period. Include any links that may reveal locations of important battles, who was victorious and how that may have been significant.
It's really interesting that all these events and horrible things happened so quickly in the past couple of years. For example;Hitler commits suicide ,what was he thinking? Its sad that innocent people died...the population went down so very quickly. People around the world are being killed and the population was decreasing by the killing.Its shocking that it still continued in 1937 with a brutal attack on China. Knowing that America won victory is amazing

ReplyDeleteI cant belive that they let people do that to other people just because of there belifes that is horrible.I was looking at one of the maps of germany and there were 12 consetration camps in germany there were 7 or 8 death camps and several other camps out side of germany. Also one thing I noticed was that the maps were not detailed and did not tell how many inches equals miles or any thing like that.
ReplyDeleteYeah Orry 12 concentration camps is a lot. And thousands of people were killed at each one. That ends up with a lot of killing.

ReplyDeleteI think that if everyone including Hitler's army fought against him, none of this would have happened.So what I am trying to say is that we as humans think only of ourselfs and not other people.
This time in human history was brutal, war was breaking out and German Nazis were planning to take over pretty much the whole world. This age in time was accompanied by World War 2, this war was between the Eastern parts of the world. Germany planned to take over all of Europe and more territory after that. Hitler was power hugnry and wanted everyone to obey his commands. The Nazis (Hitlers army) took over all of germany, they then moved on to Poland, and Italy conquering both and then moving on to France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. The Soviet Union became angered and decided to rebel. The failed at first but then for the second attack they gathered more troops and took over the land that the Germans had gained. I think it was crazy the Germans gained so much land and power. It was great to hear the people of the land were finally deciding to rebel because the Germans finally got a taste of their own medicine. This was one of the most famous battles in history! The people who won/succeded in World War 2 were Britian,France,the U.S., the Soviet Union,China,Canada,Australia, and others were winners.By 1945 Germany and Japan had suffered a devestating defeat which I think is amazing because the Germans did such terrible things to all of those innocent people and in the end they lose terribly, serves them right!
ReplyDeleteI can still not swallow the fact that so many major events happened in world war II!! It was hard to keep track of who was fighting with who and why?? Well some of the important details was that Hitler became chancellor of germany and the Nazi Party, and also that Nazi offenders are tried under the jurisdiction of the international military tribunal in 12 subsequent numberg trials which is a fancy way of saying that they were tried several of times until they were finally convicted. Germany was also victorious in a lot of major battles and gained control of a lot of cities. The soviet union was one of the few forces that could defeat germany. The maps of world war II dramatically changed from before the war and after the war. Before the war Germany quickly overran much of Europe and was victorious for more than two years. Some of the countries that germany defeated and occupied are Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. I think it is really amazing that Germany was able to defeat that many countries! Unfortunately Germany's victories will soon come to an end because the maps after the war showed that all of the countries that Germany had defeated came back and rebelled all at the same time!! Germany could not handle all the forces coming at once and later surrendered.

This had outraged the British and French. In Japan, it was, obviously, the Japanese against the United States of America. France, Great Britain, and America banded together and formed the Allies. The Allies declare war on the Axis.
ReplyDeleteBack in Europe, Hitler's ambition was to claim more land for the German and to kill all that was "impure." He orders the Nazis to Poland on September 1, 1939. The Germans defeated them and captured the country. Afraid, Italy had sided with them. The British-French army attacked the Nazis and their Italian ally. The attack had forced them to retreat, and they had taken Norway, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, northern France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. Outraged, the Soviet Union (western Russia), occupying Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, they attack Finland and east Romania. Weak, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria ally with Germany. Stronger, Germany fight their way through Soviet Russia. But the Allies act and liberate Europe. Then the battle ends with a treaty when German officials, for Hitler was killed, met with the Allies at Rheims France, May 7, 1945. But that is only Europe.
During World War 2, many people suffered due to their religion, color, and even their beliefs. Concidering what we all have to day, we are all conidered lucky. We have protection for our country, and for the people within it. During world war 2, many signifigant events occured. One being that Hitlar become head of the Nazi party, which was a world changing event. He and his followers, the germans, planned to take conrole of the whole world. He tried to accomplish this by killing people who were not to his fitting. He not only killed theise innocent people, ha made them suffer by putting them in concentration camps, the first was opened outside of Barlin. He put them in gas chambers, burned them, made them starve..etc..
ReplyDeleteSome victorious battels won were: March 12: Nazi marched into Austria, and took controle. Some people form the United States of America were planning on helping the Jews escape, but were too scared to get killed themselfs. Throughout World War 2, many Americans noticed that more and more countries were deciding to join Germany, and fight in their defense. In my opinion, i believe that more contries were deciding to join Hitlar for their own safteys sake.
I can't believe that Hitler and Germany were able to defeat so many countries, and it's even worse what he did to his prisoners and enemies. The Battle of Stalingrad must be one of the most recognized battles in World War II because it was what finally allowed the Allies to go on the offensive. Fortunately, we were able to defeat Germany, because it's really scary to imagine what the world would be like if Hitler had won!

ReplyDeleteIn the early maps of world war 2 it shows that Germany had conqured poland and parts of the soviet union,Italy,Denmark,and Norway. Also they conqured Yugoslavia and Greece. Also Slovakia, Hungary,Romania, and Balgary allied with germany.

ReplyDeleteAlicia, Hitler commited suicide because he was about to "lose". He was about to be taken over and killed. So he probaly wanted to die less painfuly then how he would of been killed. So he just killed himself before anyone else could get to him.

ReplyDeleteThe Nazi Army was vast on it's conquest of almost taking over the world. Zifeng allows us to really understand how many countries and across the continents of how big this war truly was. World War 2 is the only real term that describes the scale of the theatre.
ReplyDeleteDuring World War II, there was a battle called Battle of the Bulge. In this battle, more than 181,000 people died. Personally, I think war is a waste of lives. Why can't the whole world live in peace?! Also, when the Nuremberg Race Laws against Jews deprived all Jews of their German citizenship, I think that is wrong. Everyone should have the life they have always dreamed of. Also, if somemone is deprived of their citizenship because of their race, religious wiews, or anything else that sets someone apart form someone else is just rediculous. People should be their own person. In my researching, I found that most maps I saw were just showing where consentration camps and extermination camps were. Some showed escape routes that some Jews took to get to Russia, or out of the way of Hitler.
ReplyDeleteConner: I agree with what you said about being lucky because the way we live today is nothing like the way they lived back then. Everyday we look forward to either going shopping or hanging with friends & family but back then all they were looking forward to was living. No one thought about having fun with family and friends but instead they thought about helping their loved ones survive. I don't think people in our world realize how good we have it now. So I completely agree with you.

Who did the Germans surrender to? wow the Germans were a bunch of punks. when they dont have a leader, they are completly lost.The american forces save the jews at Dachue consentration camps. Once hittler commited suicide, Germany was completly defenseless. They surrendered to all the western allies. They also surrendered to the soviets. What a bunch of punks.
ReplyDeleteDuring world war 2, many places changed drastically. Places were working together and becoming one to fight. They was a major allie between Germany, Italy and Japan. That was the biggest alliance of them all. They were great with power.
ReplyDeleteWhen the German forces take over and conquor most of the continent of europe, The German empire conquor many other places as well. The Germans take over the atlantic coast of france all the way to the soviet city of stalingrad on the volga river from the Artic regions of norway. I can only omagine how crazy the germans must have been to believe that they could take over all these places. They must have always have a crazed power-hungry look in their eyes. It must of been extreamly scary to see the way that they looked at you if you wore a yellow star on your shirt.
