Define propaganda and describe how it was used as a tool by the Nazi's. If possible, provide links to examples you have found of propagnda that was used by the Nazi's. Briefly desribe the Nazi philosophy and how propaganda developed based on this philosophy.
The nazis used propaganda to force their philoosophy on the German population. Hitler and his followers believed they could make a "superior race," and they fought to accheive it through mass killings. They basically brainwashed the Germans to think the Jews needed to be killed and tortured. Their propaganda was released in every possible way. It could be found in anti-Jewish movies, on the radio, in newspapers, books, and music.
ReplyDeleteNazi culture was incredibly youth-oriented. The Nazis told the children that they were special, adn raised them to believe the Jews were evil. So, because they grew up believing this, they became Hitler supportors as adults. So, propaganda made all the difference in the Holocaust killings.
Propaganda is when information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause. For example, in politics many people use pnroganda because they are trying to make you choose a certain candidate. They advertise and try to beat the other candidate. Kind of like a commercial that they are advertising to pick a certain person and why you shouldnt vote for the other. This message can be spread by books for people to read, films/theater for people to watch, radio for people to listen too, the press for everyone to see and read, and educational materials that you learn in school. This is how the message was communticated. I think it is wrong for someone to force a belief onto people. This is because people should have their own right to choose who they want and not a ruler with all the power, i think everyone should have freedom.
ReplyDeletePropoganda means spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person. Also propoganda means Ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberatlly to further one's cause or damage to an opposing cause; a public action to have an affect. In my opinion I believe that propaganda means hatred towards another ones beliefs and causing damage to another ones beliefs. This propaganda was used by the Nazi's because they were telling people what the perfect person and religion was and if you were'nt the perfect religion or person then there was no reason for them to live. So people believed Hitler's propaganda but it ended up killing millions of people. Also with the nazi philosophy is was basically the same thing as the propaganda. They were killing people who were'nt perfect and didn't follow the perfect traits
ReplyDeletePropaganda is said to be an act of deceiving people or one's friend while not quite convincing one's enemy.The Nazi's used it efectively to mobilize the German population to support it's wars.Aryan race was the true master race superior to all others.Nazi's tried to destroy the Jews because they were attempting to corrupt the Aryan race.Anybody who was not German should be dead because they believed in perfect blond hair, blue eyes and more.Propaganda is mainly used in politics and takes it cue from public relations and advertising.It influences the behavior, opinions and decisions of others.
ReplyDeleteThomas, I think that the jews should have been treated the same way because they are human too. I think that all humans should be treated equally. Just because they didn't believe in what Hitler believed in, doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated differently.

Ways Nazi's used propaganda was art, music, theater, films, books, radio, education, and press. Examples are the films "The Eternal Jew", and "Triumph of the Will." Also a newspaper cartoon "Der Strumer." The philosophy was "Jews will destroy culture." Propaganda was formed from this because people believed that they would destroy everything so that racial remarks/slurs nd sterotypes began to develop.

ReplyDeletePropoganda tries to force a doctorine on the whole people. Propoganda works on the general public from the standpoint of an idea to make them ripe nfor the victory of his idea. The type of propoganda they used was they tried to get the message through art, music, theater, films, books, radio, educational materials, and the press. The philopsophy the Nazi's followed was that Hitler's opinion on the Jews, that they were not equal to the Germans. They did not deserve respect and should not be treated as people. They should be dead.

ReplyDeleteCatherine, I think the reason that stereotypes and racials remarks exist to this day is because of the propaganda and opinions of people back in World War II. All I want to know is that why do people still say such things when they knew the Holocaust and WWII was a terrible event in the world's history?

I agree with Jessica because if their was no propaganda Germans would not be killing Jews! You basically are right because they basically did brainwash the Germans to think that Jews were filthy and they needed to be killed and tortured because thats all they ever grew up knowing? What if there was no propaganda, do you still think that Germans would still kepp killing Jews or do you think that things would be different?

But, what i am getting from all this is that propaganda is when you try to force a religion or doctrine onto a large group of people. So my question is, if propaganda is forcing something onto people, then how do you think hitler got all the power to do such a thing? Did he spread rumors? Did he just start killing people and forcing them into this religion with a gun at the start? How did all of this propaganda start?

The propaganda is when the German invade all type of place were Jewish people lived and murder and killed in the worst way. Propaganda is biased information to shape behavior. An example of propaganda is if Mrs. Bolden want to be class president and so did Mrs. Pate. .So they decided to tell lies about each other .Like if Mrs.boulden decides that she going to tell everyone that Mrs. Pate wet the bed. Then Mrs. Pate decide she going to tell Mrs.Boulden that she wet the bed .That would be an example of a propaganda because you are using opinion of lies to tell one of many person a lie so they believe you, just like Hitler. But in his case he thought that Jewish society was below human society and that they should not be treated with the human respect. Hitler thought they were disgust and hated them for what reason I don’t know. He believed that if he didn’t like them that other religion and race shouldn’t so that when he used the propaganda and with this idea he murder and killed over 1 million Jewish people. Now if your wonder does propaganda still goes on it does it used in politician and in racism .For example politician tell lies and biased opinions and then racist use lies like black or Latino or and other race are below white society or and other society race.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Jessica Ament, that Propaganda is still used today. Especially with politices, when one candidate says something false or offensive to another candidate. One example of this is those commercials where someone exagerates facts or statements about someone, or something.
ReplyDeleteJessica Ament's passage really popped out to me. I learned that propaganda is a way to make people think/believe a certain way. This method is still used today. For example, politicians propaganda all the time to try to win elections and to get people to agree with what they believe. Propaganda, however, can turn out as a huge tragedy, like what Hitler did to the Germans, in the holocaust.

If you dont know, propaganda means the spreading of ideas,information or rumors for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution a cause or a person. Baisically it means one group of people would say their opinion in unqiue ways that make others believe their ways are right to hurt or help another group or cause. In this case, Hitler and the Nazi's used propaganda to make other germans and people believe that Jews dont deserve to be treated like normal people. The propaganda they used were things such as posters of jews put in bad wasy and speeches telling about how Jews are supposably obessed wirth sex and money and basing their whole lives on it. With this many jews were hurt and killed all because of this widely spread propaganda.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Jessica Ament on this one becuase with this propaganda being use these people believed that the jews are an evil race of people. This propaganda caused many deaths for many jews and injured thousands. Propaganda is even still being used today such as in polotics. When candiates persuade people to believe one another are not trust worthy and will not do what they promise to do. It is even used in many commerials stating opions such as this company is better then that company, for example the Pepsi vs. Coke or McDonalds vs. Burger King.
